CRM, ERP, BPM for Business and PErsonal in ns8

Hello All,

NS8 is geared towards at targeted at businesses, mostly SME. While this holds true, there could be outliners, some Self Employed businesses, as well as large Enterprise having the requirement for NS8.

I have been pondering over the question, Wat Software stack for business management, as well as Self Employed Business, might be ideal for Ns8.

While pondering over this questions, my considerations were based on very many aspects, While working towards solving this as a potential problem and working on coming up with a solution, i understand it could be a double edged sword for me.

this is because, the proposed solutions are Opensource systems that just work, and some of these solutions are products which we have commercial non opensource variations for our region, nevertheless, I also understand A lot of people will be assisted by this.

Here is the List.

Walios
Subscriptions Managemnt
Our new World order is coupled with Subscriptions and softwares, systems and services we need to pay for Each and Every Month,

IF Keeping track of All these is a Big issue for you, Above is your new Companion

Invoice Plane
CRM Only
A simple No fuss Invoicing solution, for those that need to geenrate invoices and manage payments.

InvoinceNinja
An Old, but robust invoincing SOlutions with Some whistles. So if you need Invoicing with some bit of other things, but not too much complexities. then this is a solution for you.

BigCapital
Pure Accounting
This is a Robust and Full featured Pure Accounting Solution.
IF all you need is book Keeping, and Accounting, for free, Self hosted, then this is a solution for you. this gives Quickbooks and Xero a run for their money

ERPNext
Business ERP
This is a no fuss, full featured completely Free RObust and Modern ERP solution.
it competes, very aggressively with Dolibarr, on the ERP space in terms of features and Functions.
The catch- good luck installing it. We attempted building it as a NS Module with no success.
It has too many dependencies and installation is tough, but if you get it running, its nice to use, and has very many free Plugins available, even the local ones.

Maybe we can be brave to attempt it again, with some community help.

20Twenty
Modern Crm
I have no idea why the name for this one is 20, but hey, if you are a looking for a modern looking CRM, that does not constraint you or feel so serios like standard crm systems, then this one is for you.
For me, its feels more like a contact management solution than a crm, but hey, below is another one more well suited for personal use.

Monica
Personal CRM/Rolodex,
would work well for Self EMployed as well as Professional, who dont really need a Full fledged CRM solution, but who require something to manage their contacts

This is more of a Personal Rolodex, than it is a CRM perse. An average Human can only Remember about 21 of their Frinds and collegues, yet in todays age, we engage with more than 100 in a given monthā€¦

OfficeLife
HRM
This is amore an HCM, EMpOs solutions for Employee relations and management.

MintHCM
HRM
Similar to OfficeLife Above, this one is targeted are companies to manage the EMployee Lifecycle. Its More a HRM, Human resource MAnagement, or in this case, ā€˜Capitalā€™

*Luckily, we are already working on brinign this onto NS8 here*

Huly io Platform
Project Management
We live in a Modern world, and ths a Modern Project Management Solutions is required.

Huly.io calls itself a Jira Alternative, well, from what i have seen, its robust enough and Holds some of its Claims.

It Tauts itself as a Notion Alternative, but that corn goes to the next one below

Affine
Notion alternative
This solution can Take the Crown as a Notion alternative, that is Opensource and Self Hostable. the Developers promise to provide self hosted commercial support. Which would be great,

Corteza
Low-code CRM
IF you are looking for a RObust CRM solution, and you have the Budget, capacity and manpower to customize it to handles exactly what you need to it do. then this would be the solution for you, otherwise, just le tit be. you might not get full functionality.

it has all the Basic Enteprise FUnctions, SCIM, SAML, OIDC, LDAP

it comes with Basic Dashboard, and pre-Implemented CRM, it can do alot more than CRM as well,

CiviCRM
NGO crm
This is Among the oldest Opnesource CRM projects,
NGo, Non-Profits and Communities would benefit the most from this than nomarl companies.

Firefly-iii
Personal Finance
This many of you am sure might already know, its a robust, and widely supported personal Finance Management Solution.
Everything you require towards book keeping for your home and personal Finance, this does alot to cover that.
Hey, how will you account for tithe if your finances are not in order

Maybe-Finance
Personal Finance
Unlike the on above, this one you probably do not know, well they solve the same problem, managing personal finance, but this one wants to focus more on integrations, Portfolio projection and other advance metrics that would make you need a finance manager.

GAuzy
ERP

IF all is you need is a modern looking, Opensource ERP, this fits the bill, provided your business does not have complexities that Dolibarr can handle.

Yetiforce
CRM
Old School Opensource CRM for business. Am not sure if its Opneosurce, but if you dont mind non commercial use license, with source code available, and no Core features, then its great for you. its modern, advanced and ticks all the boxes.

EspoCRM
Simple CRM Solution

OTOBO
OTRS Fork for Ticketing
IF you are from Germany and were relying on OTRS Opnesource before, and Zammad is too complex for you, its a consideration, but for me personally, zammad covers it all,

SuiteCRM
CRM
I honestly donā€™t have much expereince with this one. but its seems like a Pure CRM

Notable MEntions

WPERP
ERP based on Wp, I have used the commercial version before, never the freely available on github version, should be possible to DOnwload and install on our Wordpress App on NS8.

Odoo
This One needs no introductions, its not on the List because, there is alreadya ns8 Module for it, submitted for approval on Nethforge.

Akaunting
Accounting solution
It is a wonderful, full featured and Matured Opensource accounting solution.
If you are a very small business, looking for an accounting software, fine, if you need alot more bells and whistles, its more expensive to derive Value from this one than even Odoo.
All Additional Functions are Apps, that you pay for monthly, regardless self hosting or cloud.
It Ends up becoming more expensive than Commericial counterparts.
App Store - Akaunting

Manager.io
Not Free, Commercial Accounting.
This is a commercial Non Opensource Offering, that can be self hosted
I once Self hosted this for a Client on NS7, and thus should be possible on NS8 as well. and is affordable enough
BigCapital Above, Competes extremely favourably, and close with it, in terms of functionality and simplicity, its also affordable enough, thats why its listed here. so if Manager can do your bidding, Bigcapital can as well, simply, but if you need more, Dolibarr or ERPNext would fit the Bill.

I would wish to Have ERPNext as an alternative to Dolibarr here on the community.

if anyone does, share your experience.

There are some which might have escaped my List,

Please Feel Free to add them to the list, and share with the Community.

In my belief, the more the better, the merrier. Please be kind, it took me a long time to test all these and compile the lists.

@mrmarkuz as requestedā€¦ here is for you.

At some point interested in ERPNext but for a critical business app installation/update issues put it to rest for a future review.

I tested and liked YetiForce. There was a license change. It requires or required registration and they could use your company name to make advertising (in the sense of this and that company is using our software).

Manager.io, from what I recall tried to make thinks so simple to the point you missed features.

CiviCRM: not the easiest to use but with some work has the potential to be customized to client needs (NGO, associationsā€¦)

Currently using dolibarr. Low entry requirements. It gets the job done but lacks some ā€œfreeā€ features Iā€™d like (available as 3 figures paid modules, not expensive from the point of view of a company with many employees but expensive for really small business). When testing it, a few modules gave the impression to be available just to fill in a feature check mark rather than be fully useful.

As new EU and country-specific regulations are approved (EUā€™s ViDA, B2B e-invoicing, Invoice QR code and fingerprinting, connection to tax authority, certified software) is it very possible Iā€™ve to dismiss most of the self-hosted opensource projects and go with some SaaS subscription or certified closed-source software.

Apart from the ones you mention, some other ERP and billing apps I recall:

  • FacturaScripts: in active development, features through plugins (some free, some paid, like with dolibarr, akaunting, etc.). Last time I checked integration with woocommerce and prestashop was being worked on but unsure if both available as plugins or some of them just on the hosted version. Some modules are focused towards Spanish market.
  • metasfresh IIRC, german company, originally developed for (but not limited to) vegetables industry. I think initially was forked from adempiere.
  • Tryton
  • SolidInvoice invoicing for freelancers
  • flectra, a fork of odoo was mentioned here on the forums long ago, but I think at some point there were issues on intellectual property or closed-code taken from odoo.

Other ERPs I recall, but unaware of current status, are inoERP, Vtiger, Apache OffBizā€¦

https://www.sql-ledger.com/

has been around for approx a zillion years. As reliable as gravity.

As a user of SQL-Ledger, it may be open source, but the only dev does not accept any submissions and seems to be really pig headedā€¦

It works, and is written completly in perl, but is a bit of a pita to maintain.

And itā€™s not reliable as gravity, even on a dedicated machine.
And plenty of coding bugs in the translated versions. Deleting something means logging in with english language - as with a lot of other less used functions, but still important stuff.

The look & feel is rather dated, and security? This guy thinks heā€™s smarter than the NSA and refuses to listen to people who knows stuff better. I sometimes think his private hobby is training donkeys to be stubborn!

I would have migrated long ago, but tereā€™s no real usable path besdes a lot of hard work,ā€¦

My 2 cents
Andy

Just to Keep you guys updated.

Wallos is built
Monica is Built
Firefly is Built
EspoCRM is built
Odoo is already available

Bigcapital is built, we need to fix CORS 405 error
MINTHCM is built, still ne relook why the app keeps restarting
ERPNext, one of the most complet apps we are working on. lots og headaches.

Affine is Under dev

Maybe FInance is under Dev

For the Ones left out, Which ones might you be interested in?

Edit: MAybe Finance is Developed

HAppy to Announce that this is Now a Nethserver 8 App

ERPNEXT: The most agile ERP on the planet in NS8 - App - NethServer Community

i must admit that working on most of the apps on this list not really been easy, and it has been taking longer than we had initally anticipated.

Our goal and aim was to have afew CRM solutions, for the very samll organizations, and a few ERP solutions, for both small and large organizations, and overall CRM for larger organizations.

this would make us really happy, as it would mean that NS8 can be used by organizations of any size to manage their day to day business operations with ease, without the need for any other hosted multiple systems outside NS8

I think itā€™s an honourable idea. However, I think that the response will only come very slowly.

Either such companies are already using one or the other solution and a migration would be costly.

Or the managers responsible for the introduction of such systems are not familiar with the range of products in the Software Center, because only the administrators get to see it. What interest should the administrators have in the introduction / migration of CRM or ERP systems? When in doubt, it just means additional work.

It is likely to be the exception that administrators in companies have enough interest of their own and want to and can persuade their management in this regard.

I think itā€™s a classic sales task that administrators wonā€™t take on voluntarily.

the target is not actully for those with existing systems, its mainly those completely withou any systems. you might be surprised.

another target is users on hosted solutions, that are looking for slf hosted solutions, and easy ways o Have them built.

First of all, thank you for this post. NS8, a small business server with a choice of accounting software, brilliant!

Quick-books is pushing everyone into their cloud hosted subscription service. My goal is to move to another platform this Jan 1. (Start of fiscal year.)

Iā€™m leaning towards Big capital, it looks a lot like quick-books when it comes to business processes. (ieā€¦ generate estimate, email to client, if accepted convert to invoice, send invoice, collect payment, track inventory, reconcile with bank, deal with taxes, payroll, etcā€¦)

Need to move from NS7 to NS8 as well.

Youā€™ve got yourself some things to doā€¦

Big capital comming soon

Iā€™m running the subscription service and a local docker version of BigCapital at the same time. (On Proxmox make sure to use a CPU type that has AVX support then change the webapplication: setting in .env to localhost.)

Time to move from NS7 to NS8. Totally willing to be a tester for BigCapital on NS8.
