I thought to extend the actual Services page to enable start/stop, but there was no general consensus.
Probably there’s no real need to manually start/stop services.
Perhaps there`s not a huge need,
But even small, the need exist:
- After change a configuration file.
- To make a test.
- To make a diagnostic…
ClearOS has this feature
Another use case is find a service abnormally stopped and you’d like to start it and check the logs.
I don’t see it as a priority feature but could be handy
I agree, Having control over a service from the UI is better.
Take into account if you need to stop or start a service really quick.
in this case I won’t use UI…
debug can’t be made via web interface…
Debuging does not mean that i do not want to stop/start a service
Of course, but if you can test one or two things holding the mouse in one hand and the cup of coffee in the other hand… It`s better
Ahaha this made me laugh a lot! :
usually no mouse is necessary here
Continuing the discussion from NethServer v7-alpha2:
To celebrate this great news, @alefattorini will offer the mug for our left hand
Don’t tempt me, I may surprise you
Great job! This was indeed one missing feature that will help when “debugging”.
First see if the service has stopped and then restart and then read the logs
Thank you for your work guys!
