SOGo is not dead

I was pretty sure that SOGo was dead :stuck_out_tongue:

but SOGo v5.11.0 released

still moving but slowly

still no update in archlinux

upgrade asked to the developers

Why would you say that please? Is there a discussion about that or the lack of developments? News to me, that’s all.

well, 5.10 was released with bugs in february, it is a long time, however it seems they bring a lot of nice feature in 5.11

in the meantime it is developed now by a alinto french company, and not more by the inverse canadian company

Ah! So, you are on top of it!

me not :sob:

This usually means that want to earn money and it will dissapear as an open-source of you need a subsciption.
Same think happend with Zarafa when they become Kopano

SOGo was not a free as free beer project, I made it available by compiling it myself, either you had to pay 800e per year to get the stable binary

I do not know what it will occurs for SOGo, it is a project without real enhancements, no real roadmap.

Ok. I didn’t know. Thanks for the info
And what about Webtop ?
Is it better to use Webtop than Sogo ?

Sonicle, the Italian company behind WebTop, collaborates closely with Nethesis to deliver the WebTop groupware. They have a well-defined roadmap that includes both new feature development and bug fixes.

Well,
the acceptance factor of Sogo is high in the family.

Can you install SOGo and Webtop in parallel on NS8 for testing?

Regards
Gerald

yes it is possible, you can have as many instances of webtop and SOGo you want, you could imagine 4 nodes with one mail server per node and one node with 4 SOGo and 4 webtop on one node

a cluster hits a limit of 4

I do not know really what it means for now

if the sogo is available officially in ubuntu, it will ease my work.

Well then I’ll test it, hopefully everyone will join in :frowning:

do not understand, SOGO, is available yet in nethforge

No, I expressed myself in a confusing way.

We are currently using 5.10 and I am looking forward to 5.11.

But if SOGo becomes more and more difficult or has no development path, it might be better to test Webtop and use it if necessary.

I hope that my users (children and friends) see it the same way and dare to switch.
For testing purposes, I will initially provide both environments.

I think your work is great and admire your knowledge and enthusiasm!

Best wishes

Gerald
