Ran into unknown state from Backup.pm line 252

Continuing the discussion from Domain login error after Windows 11 22H2 update:

Since we installed the nethserver-dc package from the testing repository the backup logs fill with messages like

Ran into unknown state (hex char: 29) at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/NethServer/Backup.pm line 252.

The backup ends with success. The message is only annoying.

The message originates from the upstream bug https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=91150, since Samba DC 4.16 processes use ) in their titles. For instance run:

ps -afx -o pid,comm | grep -- \)

Older bug (related) https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=61946

Packages:

  • nethserver-dc-1.8.4-1.2.g83995f7.ns7.x86_64
  • perl-Proc-ProcessTable-0.48-1.el7.x86_64

Thanks @transocean for reporting it!

I found a 2018 RPM (version 0.55) from the Open Fusion repository with the bug fix: I pushed it into nethserver-testing.

To test the bug fix:

yum --enablerepo=nethserver-testing update perl-Proc-ProcessTable

If the everything else is fine, we can release it with Samba DC 4.16 (bug 6702).
