Guys,
I’ve got myself in a world of pain and its all down to my own slowness. I should have migrated from 7 to 8 ages ago, but 7 ran so smooth I just didn’t. The the platform I was using for Nethserver 7.9.2009 started to get “tired” and so I tried to make the move. First I made sure I had a current configuration and data backup, then build another server on newer tin. Loaded the config backup on to it, and everything looks wonderful. Tried to load the data backup and nothing worked. I was getting all kinds of hangs, halts and just plain weirdness. After several abortive attempts, I decided to bite the bullet, built the new server (again) loaded the config backup, which gave me all the necessary apps etc, then tarred the appropriate files off the old server and manually copied them to the new. The websites went fine, I had my websites running nicely, so then I tarred my mail directories across, and that works perfectly, mail just dropped in and worked, accounts maintained, dates maintained. wonderful. Then I tried to run NextCloud and it all fell apart badly…I transferred the files across but it didn’t work and I couldn’t see the files. It turned out that nextcloud wanted an update of PHP….so I did that and now NextCloud worked. So I had all my sites up, all my mail up, all my file storage up: life was wonderful….until the next time I rebooted, when Roundcube decided it didn’t like the version on PHP I had loaded. I tried to sort that out without much success and couldn’t do without mail, so I used a combination of K9 (android) and Thundermail(Windows) as a roundcube replacement, That all works, I have a stable situation, not ideal but I can decide what to do next at leisure…..except….I start getting warnings: /usr/share/clamav/freshclam-sleep > /dev/null: ERROR: Database update process failed: Forbidden; Blocked by CDN. This is because the version of ClamAV is too low, and the CDN is refusing to serve it. So….I need to do an update. There are no updates in the “software” section of the dashboard, and if I do it manuallly I’m concwrened that I will cause a similar problem as I did when I fixed NextCloud and broke Roundcube. Has anyone got any advice? Ultimately, I want to get to Nethserver 8, but right now, I’m spending all my time fixing things I broke!
Thanks for any advice
Jim
