i have read all the excitement about ns8 and i am looking forward to installation, but i have waited due to the issues with migration. Nevertheless, i decided to scale back and simply migrate nextcloud. I would like to use debian for the Ns8 install, so is there is a straightforward to do such, the rest of it i would be happy to do it manually or start fresh.
Thanks
Hi @koolandrew
See this:
Note: The workaround with the bug issue can be ignored, it’s no longer needed.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your two cents as it is worth than that …i use proxmox already, prefer debian for linux installs so this would be helpful, i just glanced at the post, nothing about transferring over the install for nextcloud that i saw but no biggie, this is still a win. thanks

Hi @koolandrew
As the Titel said, that How-To was a specific How-To I made to promote the use of Debian. As I’ve often stated here, I am Team Debian, not Team RHEL clones. I used Debian before RedHat, and I still do. It’s the basis on all my Proxmox, OpenMediaVaults and other Servers, but also for my Debian Desktops and also Ubuntu.
I don’t trust anything RedHat after them singing the (Big) Blues… Debian is Open Source, does not belong to a “Company”…
Add to that none of my clients have a need for any form of RHEL Certification.
It was also specific for a “New Install”, not a “Migration”.
Migration of Nextcloud will usually go without issues, but if possible reduce your App set to the basics before migration if possible. Keep a list of Apps on NS7, then reenable them on NS8.
And as any Proxmox user does (others should also): Make a backup of both NS7 and NS8.
For Migration I strongly suggest at every step or Milestone in Migration.
If nothing else, it does help for peace of mind!
My 2 cents
Andy
