We have quite some users in our community that have proxmox as hypervisor to run NethServer on. A few days ago proxmox released a new environment for backup: proxmox backup server Proxmox Backup Server
It still has a few rough edges, but it aims to be similar to what Veeam backup is for VMWare.

Just a note… It is possible to add a Backup-Server-Storage in the PVE-GUI. You just have to update PVE to the latest version and then you should be able to add the PBS-Storage under the GUI…
Looking for this new option as I also plan to have a look on Proxmox Backup Server, I come from realizing that one of my proxmox servers doesnt get the latest update. The one who got it was setup by first setting up debian, while the one not getting the latest updates was setup by proxmox installer.
Anyone an idea howto fix?

Take a closer look into the Package Repositories
If you use Proxmox VE No-Subscription Repository then you have to edit:
/etc/apt/sources.list
and
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-enterprise.list
Solved by adding the following to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian buster main contrib
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian buster-updates main contrib
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve buster pve-no-subscription
deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates main contrib
