I think it’s possible. A machine account is the same as an user account!

Correct, at e-smith database level. But what happens to SMB?

Samba SAM attributes share the same Posix DN in LDAP.

BTW I think renaming is not possible

That’s what I thought and why my objection on SMB; I was thinking of renaming when I wrote my last comment, sorry not to be so clear.

Would love to provide proof of concept code for this interface, unfortunately not a lot of time to spare ATM.

Whenever you have time it looks interesting
