Docker NICs HOST

Ciao community!

i am just start to study nethserver and i like it a lot!

I haven’t found a question about dokers and nics.

i have an ubuntu server whit docker engine and i would install nethserver from Docker registry.
In my home server i have 4 ethernet nics and wireless card.
this server works like a router/dhcp in my home network.

Can you explain me how-to netserver container can manage the 4 nics and how nethserver dhcp can assign the ip?
For what i have understood is not possible to make NICs passthrough to a specific docker container.

Thanks in advance!

Ciao Fabri and Welcome to the NethServer community!

AFAIK, NethServer can’t run in a Docker - at least not with AD, but NethServer CAN run Docker stuff.

See here, for example:

My 2 cents

You can install nethserver over a centos7, so theorically, once the container created you can install ns7. I know someone who does it with LXC on proxmox. However it is a full operating system so you have a lot of services running behind hence it will be experimental.

Moreover, at least Nethserver has to have a network adapter with an ipv4 address for providing services.

Thanks for response.

Unfortunately my pcie wifi (asus ac88) won’t works on kernel linux less then 5.0 .

I need to use Zentyal also if i don’t like it. Hope that nethserver 8 will be release asap whit kernel almost 5.0…

:frowning:

Rebellion are built on hope

Kernel of centos 8 is 4.18…You have to wait centos 9

In other hand you can install proxmox 6 and virtualize nethserver

Think of buying an AP… This will make you earn dual band.
