Are there any (representatives of) resellers active on these forums?

Hi,

Just curious, please see title. Are there?

TIA

I know for sure there are some resellers here, and they also do a great job supporting other users

Well, none of them took the effort to say even ‘Hi’. So I guess those ‘Digital Heroes’ are a breed apart? Solo Italiano?

Hi man  we are Nethesis reseller

They probably don’t want to be recognized as partners here…
(Count me as the second one)

I’m actually wondering why anyone wouldn’t want to be identified as a partner or reseller. Other companies pay a lot of money to be able to advertise their partner status.

Any dealership, partnership or affiliation would scream their lungs out to tell the world they are ‘officially’ related to XYZ. Proud the whole nine yards!!

What area do you serve? Local, remote, follow the sun? and in what languages? Website?

They probably don’t want to tell you because they don’t want to be threatened or attacked.

Shoot! by who?

Italy: Milan and its province, and Lombardy more generally. Italian support.

Are you looking for something in particular @LayLow?

Not specifically (always nice to know what your company does), but I get asked why I spent so much time on an unknown ‘thing’ on the internet. I don’t have a sales pitch, nor can I explain what position this ‘thing’ has in the world of MS/Google/Amazon etc. Neither can I explain when asked why there is such low presence outside of Italy, specifically Asia (just the largts part of the worlds population). Even the Nethesis website is strictly Italian only!

So basically I am considered to be a nerd doing someting with some people online and nobody knows ‘this thing’. By itself it is ridiculous that there is no partner/affiliate listing on any website, and me asking here seems to backfire.

I would like to show pride of the NS8 ecosystem, but I just have nothing to show for it. So once in a while I rock the boat and gauge my own investments in time, effort and fun. And I am not surprised that Nethesis makes a huge difference between community spirit/effort/wishes and paying customers.

But then again, this community are not Digital Heroes (what are we then??), never saw any invitation, announcement or any pride via this community or any transparency. It seems there is a strategy of the ‘back-end’ of open source enthousists (these forums) where Nethesis can harvest ideas and talent, and there is the ‘front-end’ where the money comes in. The two never meet. (please do not give crap on open source code, anyone can join, own choice etc. etc.)

More Digital Heroes Pr*n here. Pure energy!

The Digital Heroes 2025 Meeting, promoted by Nethesis, represents one of the main events in the Italian ICT landscape focused oninnovation, open-source solutions and community among technology partners.

So among technology partners only, where the heck is this community??. I wish some of the investments would flow to some memebers of the NON PROFIT community members that are trying to make things possible in their own time and at their own expense. Not me, I don’t need it, but others do.

Maybe I’ll give Chrstian Manoni a call for he seems to have a secret recipe to create a 100% Italian Open Source Solution.

Hi LayLow, let me understand. Are you saying that Nethesis (as a company) is not giving enough value back to this community? From your experience, who are the community members that deserve more attention?

About the lack of Nethesis presence outside Italy, I don’t find it that strange. Foreign partners exist, but they are few. It’s a small company compared with giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. But I can assure you it’s made up of great people!

And I’m curious to hear other people’s opinions too!

I’m happy you feel like a Digital Hero too, it’s surely true. However, name aside, the partner community is very different from this community (that we often call the international community). I think people have very different goals and expectations: I’m not surprised the two worlds do not meet so often (but somebody here knows that it happened in Bruxelles, Rimini, Riccione, etc.).

BTW, thank you for your time and for rocking the boat a bit. I apologize if I sometimes wish you would do it in a different tone.

I appreciate that and agree, but that’s the ‘rocking’.

Depends on what can be defined as value. Things evolve and so does the need for an open source community to work and interact with a commercial party. Back in the day when Nethsesis forked e-smith (bold move), it did not come a whole bunch of community members (Koozali community is still in play) but slowly grew over time. The balance between the ‘external’ community and Nethesis makes what NethServer is today and how ideas exploded (NethSecurity).

So I would be happy to avoid ‘they and us’ and for some more attention to great talent and ideas within the external community like the open source way, not in a boardroom way.

That is not up to me to identify but at the discretion and insight of Nethesis, but I could name a few that, with a little help, could shine. And help can come in various forms, sometimes (older) hardware can be donated (incl. shipping). Sometimes a license on a product would be welcomed, and sometimes appreciation and motivaton. Looking at the guest speaker and the great events, a little marketing budget swinging towards such actions can go a long way.

But there is no directory listing. Also, is there any effort in developing throughout EMEA, Asia and other parts of the world?

That’s how wars started….

After all this I still am not sure why you’re “rocking the boat”, but you have seemed very aggrieved for some time and I’m not sure why that is either, you’re definitely coming across like you’re owed something and I have no idea why. Maybe you think that Nethesis is making all this money off the backs of people who are using what they’re giving away?
