Hi
I’ve installed the transmission-module from @stephdl but I runs into errors.
Let me explain:
I’ve followed the instructions on module:transmission [NethServer Wiki]
When installing I noticed there was a warning saying there was no user:group transmission. But since it can use root, I guess it’s okay.
Install finished, so I go, as per instructed, to https://ip/transmission. Oh, username/pass asked.
It is said (after goto that URL), you have to create a user ’ admin’ (a domain-user, using NS-module users? Or a /etc/passwd user? I’ve tried the first)
I seem to can login, because after the passwordbox disappears, I see an error:

Service Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

On the services-age I see the transmission-service ‘stopped’ but tryig to start it doesn’t change that status.
The module “Transmission Access Settings” ends in an error when I try to change an item, even when trying to stop the service.

Task completed with errors (exit status )

I can’t find a transmission-specific log in /var/log. Messages says:

You hit a first bug, indeed I could finish my sentence and direct the sysadmin to create the user admin by the userpanel, it will be done (soon) automatically by @davidep

can you post the full event please, it starts by

esmith::event[xxxx]: Event: nethserver-transmission-save

and also the rpm installed

yum history

EDIT: try to catche the full event when you installed the nethserver-transmission and the transmission, I cannot reproduce your issue

Try to post your output with the code format of discouse, I love to read without headaches…or please use a gist.

OK, I’ll try to do. First I have to add some actions to what I did.
After a first failed install, I de-installed (using yum). Then created a user transmission (useradd -r transmission) and reinstalled using yum. The warning about no user/group transmission didn’t reoccur. Bheaviour (not starting, error) remained.
The code format is that like:

After that, I did the second install (with transmission:transmission created). I can post events from that as well, but at first glance it looks alike.

the user transmission is not created by my rpm, it is by the rpm transmission itself…something badd occurs on your server :-?

Yep sur the problem comes from transmission , try to catch the log when you installed transmission, something bad occurs on the transmission side, but Here, I just put the rpm on my repository, I’m not the packager :cry:

Should a default settings.json be created at install?
I see there is no such file at my install, and that’s what it’s complaining about:

no, transmission doesn’t want to restart beccause it is facing an issue

what about

systemctl restart transmission

?

else try to remove transmission and resintall it

yum remove transmission*

The issue is on the transmission rpm :frowning:

What specific log do you want to see? I don’t have transmission.log.

/var/log/transmission/transmission.log is written by the daemon, but the daemon seems not to be installed so you won’t have this log. I’m rather looking someting interesting in /var/log/messages

I followed your installguide, that says:

yum install nethserver-transmission --enablerepo=stephdl

Apparently, there is no dependency for transmission & transmission-daemon in nethserver-transmission. Therefore, these packages are not installed…
Looks like it’s okay once I added these packages.
I don’t know if it’s not clear to me in the documentation, or that the dependencies should be adjusted…?

The question now is…why your server didn’t pull this dependances alone ???

I installed nethserver-transmission at 20h, to see if the problem could occur on my server, it was a new vm, the installation was fine, these rpm are installed.

It is a fresh ISO install from beta2. No strange things.
I don’t have your repo enabled by default. Maybe I should?

No my repo is disabled by default, it is normal, something came on your side, but If you want to be sure, set up a dev environment with virtualbox and try it again please.
