Unable to use underscore in zone names

I tried to add another zone today, but I am being told that “only letters and numbers are allowed, starting with a letter.” I think it’s because of the underscore, which I’ve used in the past. This is demonstrated in the following screenshot.

Could someone help identify any mistake I may be making, or help me report this as a bug. I am using release NethSecurity 8 24.10.0-ns.1.6.0.

Hi and welcome to NethServer Community!

Thanks, I think you found a bug and it’s ok to post it here in the community forum, I changed the topic category to NethSecurity.
There are also issues on GitHub.

When trying to use a hyphen, following error appears which is at least misleading.

I just found an issue about zones starting with numbers, see UI allows creation of custom zone with name starting with a number · Issue #1219 · NethServer/nethsecurity · GitHub but nothing about underscores.

Thinking this is a mislabeled return error. Could you shorten the name length of the zone? We have nft constraints which we didn’t address in some of the initial APIs and configurations, this could be it.

Even with short names, there are the same errors:
