Unable to access handful of websites

NethServer Version: 7.7.1908
Module:
Hi,

First of all just wanted to say a huge thanks to the devs for making one of the best systems I have used in a long time

I am having an issues whereby I am unable to access some websites. At first I thought it might be DNS but I am able to ping these sites without issue as well as access them from a different network

Examples are:
https://forums.launchbox-app.com
https://www.qbittorrent.org

I did remove the Web Filter module as well and still no luck

Please allow me to apologise in advance if this is an issue already answered in the past. I have tried searching but unable to find specific topics

I am not 100% sure where to check for specific logs which may help troubleshoot so please let me know whatever info may be required

Thank you in advance for your help,
Ben

EDIT: Tried on the same computer by connecting to my phone via wireless and the websites worked fine

Hi Ben,

welcome to Nethserver Community.

I tried to reproduce but no success.
I used both shalla and toulouse blacklists and both of your example sites were NOT blocked even if I ticked all categories.

Web content filter logs:

/var/log/ufdbguard/ufdbguardd.log
/var/ufdbguard/logs/ufdbguardd.log

Troubleshooting and testing webfilter:

Hi Markus,

Thank you for the reply and the welcome :grinning:

I tried to check those logs but they don’t appear to exist
/var/log/ufdbguard/ufdbguardd.log: No such file or directory
/var/ufdbguard/logs/ufdbguardd.log: No such file or directory

Could there be some remnant from when the Web filter was installed?

Thank you for your time
Ben

You may check if the ufdb is still running in web UI or on command line with:

systemctl status ufdb

…but I don’t think the problem is about the web filter. Even if blocking all categories it won’t block the sites you mentioned.
Do you still use the proxy?

Do you get an error from your browser?

Is your provider blocking the sites?

I tried that and it doesn’t seem to be loaded
No I do not have the proxy installed anymore

I don’t believe so, I use OpenDNS and Cloudflare for DNS
But I will run some more tests as well as speak with them about this

Left field question here: Do you run a tor relay.

Cheers.

No, I don’t run any TOR systems on my network
