They have bombed Caracas

STATEMENT
BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects, repudiates, and denounces before the international community the grave military aggression perpetrated by the current government of the United States of America against Venezuelan territory and its population in the civilian and military areas of Caracas, the capital of the Republic, and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. This act constitutes a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, especially Articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of states, and the prohibition of the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, specifically in Latin America and the Caribbean, and seriously endangers the lives of millions of people.

The objective of this attack is none other than to seize Venezuela’s strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals, attempting to forcibly break the nation’s political independence. They will not succeed. After more than two hundred years of independence, the people and their legitimate government remain steadfast in defense of sovereignty and the inalienable right to decide their own destiny. The attempt to impose a colonial war to destroy the republican form of government and force a “regime change,” in alliance with the fascist oligarchy, will fail, as all previous attempts have.

Since 1811, Venezuela has confronted and defeated empires. When foreign powers bombarded our shores in 1902, President Cipriano Castro proclaimed: “The insolent foot of the foreigner has profaned the sacred soil of the Fatherland.” Today, with the morale of Bolívar, Miranda, and our liberators, the Venezuelan people rise up once again to defend their independence against imperial aggression.
People to the streets!

The Bolivarian Government calls on all social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack. The people of Venezuela and their Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in perfect popular-military-police unity, are deployed to guarantee sovereignty and peace. Simultaneously, the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace will raise the corresponding complaints before the UN Security Council, the Secretary-General of that organization, CELAC, and the Non-Aligned Movement, demanding the condemnation and accountability of the US government.

President Nicolás Maduro has ordered all national defense plans to be implemented at the appropriate time and under the appropriate circumstances, in strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law on States of Emergency, and the Organic Law of National Security.

In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro has signed and ordered the implementation of the Decree declaring a state of External Disturbance throughout the national territory, to protect the rights of the population, the full functioning of republican institutions, and to immediately transition to armed struggle. The entire country must mobilize to defeat this imperialist aggression.

Likewise, the immediate deployment of the Command for the Comprehensive Defense of the Nation and the Governing Bodies for Comprehensive Defense has been ordered in all states and municipalities of the country.

In strict adherence to Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, Venezuela reserves the right to exercise legitimate self-defense to protect its people, its territory, and its independence. We call upon the peoples and governments of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world to mobilize in active solidarity against this imperialist aggression.

As Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez Frías stated, “In the face of any new difficulties, however great they may be, the response of all patriots…is unity, struggle, battle, and victory.”

Are you sure that’s true? The US only wants to bring democracy to the Venezuelan people. Unfortunately, however, they are repeatedly misunderstood. It was no different in Iraq back then…

May God protect you, your family, and the Venezuelan people.

Not wanting to troll or anything but nowadays putting democracy and US in the same sentence looks disconnected.

You’re absolutely right. I also meant the sentence to be rather ironic.

Aow. Sorry, took it literally :joy:

I haven’t been able to sleep. They say Maduro was captured, but they’re not going to stay quiet here. I need to stay positive and start saving money to solve this problem, and now that’s it!

There are huge lines at supermarkets, and the prices are so high that not everyone will be able to afford it. I think this isn’t over yet. I believe there will be many struggles.

I couldn’t get in touch with Adrián anymore; he’s in Caracas. He was working when everything happened, and I lost contact with him.

The German media is also reporting that Maduro has been captured and taken out of the country. In my opinion, it is now important that the Venezuelan people stand together and that civil war does not break out.

That’s the fear, and a civil war is possible. They took Maduro and his wife away.

And so we’ll remain for a long time; there won’t be a normal return to work, and prices and hoarding have already increased.

That is why it is now important for Venezuela to have a stable government that is legitimized by the people and that tackles and solves the country’s most pressing problems. In my (very personal) opinion, what you have experienced in recent years was not the will of the people.

That’s true, brother, but they only moved the president and his wife. The government still exists here. If elections were to happen, it could have the same result. I think we’re not at the end of the tunnel yet.

To be honest, I believe and fear that too. Anyone who knows Donald Trump will realize that the current US involvement is not necessarily the light at the end of the tunnel. And I also believe that his interests are of a different nature. Nevertheless, I am confident that Venezuela’s problems can be solved. Even without the help of Donald and his consortium.
But let’s leave it at that. As we all know, this is not a political forum.

I think the same, brother, and of course it’s not political, but human, and your words are true. I know there will be a documentary by the US about how they killed President Chávez and about the current operation.

And yes, brother, we’re still not safe; the situation has worsened. Where I live, there’s a National Guard command post a few blocks away, and the refineries too. It’s hard to think that nothing else will happen here. The internet is already a threat.

I’m going to try to buy some food. Yesterday my wife sold cookies and we were able to get $15 for medicine, but we’ll use it to buy some bread and canned goods. Honestly, it’s chaos. Right now I’m trying to calm my children down and explain what a war and an invasion are.

I had to activate a VPN; there are blocks and network outages affecting point-of-sale and transaction systems.

I’d be grateful for any help. A neighbor is going out in his car to buy food. It’s chaos. I don’t have enough money to buy food for at least a week. Most places are closing.
