I have some unfortunate news to share with you, which has deeply affected me. On Sunday, February 23, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Catalonia), while on a via ferrata, I suffered an infarct (heart attack). Fortunately, it happened near the exit, and I was able to finish the route on my own and call for emergency assistance.
As a result, I was airlifted by helicopter, had a stent implanted, and spent four days in the hospital. I have been back home since Thursday and have already seen a French doctor who has given me medical leave until March 6. On that day, I will meet with a cardiology specialist to further assess my recovery timeline and determine when I should begin a three-week physical rehabilitation program.
Physically, I am doing as well as possible, and I am well surrounded by support. This experience feels surreal to me, as I am rarely ever sick. I do not smoke, drink very little alcohol (and none for over a year), and it appears that this may be due to family medical history.
Next week, I will need to focus on rest, with the hope of resuming work around week 11 or 12. However, I will also have to complete the three-week rehabilitation program, which is crucial for my recovery and my return to physical activity—though via ferrata routes will likely feel much more challenging now.
Hey @stephdl so sorry what happens to you and i hope u will back into life quick as you want it, beside this project, i cross fingers and send hugs to you for getting back into health.
There’s no need to apologize. Everyone will understand.
The important thing is that you take it slowly and learn to pace yourself.
I don’t want to scare you or be disrespectful.
But it won’t do you any good if your tombstone reads, “He worked tirelessly and didn’t take care of himself.”
Glad you are still with us sir, made it home and that you have family and friends who can support you through this difficult time. There is only one you! Please take the time you need to rest, heal and recover! I will be praying for your fast recovery of heart, body and mind.
Thank you for sharing this news with us, though I’m deeply sorry to hear about what you’ve been through. It must have been such a frightening experience, but I’m truly relieved to know that you were able to get help quickly and that you’re now back home surrounded by support.
Please know that I’ll be keeping you, your health, and your family’s well-being in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sending you a big hug and all my love from Venezuela. You’re a strong person, and I have no doubt that with time, care, and the rehabilitation program, you’ll regain your strength and return to the activities you love.
For now, focus on resting and taking things one step at a time. Your health and recovery are what matter most. If there’s anything I can do to support you, even from afar, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Wishing you a smooth and steady recovery,

Dear @stephdl ,
I wish you the best for your recovery.
I am going for a stay of 4 weeks to a day hospital this friday. Things are going better days after days…each morning and afternoon I am walking around my home…going further every day.
Trying to train my brain to keep skilled, reading a book, coding a piece of code.
I should be back 14 april 2025 (I like to state on the year)
