Dear community,
Is there still something like ssh access for AD users in NETH8, similar to what was available in Nethserver 7?

Since the days of “Services for UNIX”, The AD scheme has a space for a UNIX Profile path, and other UNIX stuff like prefered shell…
RSAT can help set these data.
My 2 cents

Dear Andy,
Thank you for your answer.
If necessary, I can also create POSIX users, but that was not what I was thinking.
The main question seems to me: Is the NETH8 host (the node) itself a member of the Samba AD running on it? Otherwise, I don’t know how permission in the Samba AD is supposed to somehow grant access to the NETH8 host (node)?
Or does the SAMBA container have its own SSH server? Then it would certainly be possible to do this and also put the SSH on a separate port and of course also inform the FW of the NETH8 host about it.
You can do everything by hand (or automate it) and I do a lot of it in a very specific way. But with a “jack of all trades” like the previous and current Nethserver, I always tend to be a little cautious. Otherwise, the settings will either be gone again or will hinder something else. And you don’t want that.
I’m a big fan of being able to define everything in depth myself. But with the Nethserver I don’t have a guideline* as to what would be OK and where problems are to be expected. Because we don’t want to just play around here, do we?
*Like with the options I discussed at length to integrate separate drives into the container paths without it crashing predictably.
You’ve mentioned RSAT for the second time now. Are you talking about Windows’ own RSAT tools? Or something like this:
Installing RSAT | installing-RSAT (also for Docker)
EDIT:
OK, that wasn’t the RSAT you meant…
Do you have any recommendations?

PS.
I’m increasingly asking deliberately “stupid” questions because easily answerable (solved) questions also improve the information base in this forum. There are many questions about NETH8 that unfortunately cannot be found very centrally or clearly. Here a manual, there a discussion, then the developer pages and there someone who opens their own thread to give users an overview of “what is already possible in NETH8 and what is not yet possible”.
I use Original Windows RSAT, run on a PC (VM) in the domain, and the user is a member of AD Domain Admins…
No. As different OS are supported they’re touched as less as possible by NS8.
It should be possible to setup the host as domain member but I never tested.
