[SOLVED] Let's Encrypt for LOCAL server and DNS records

Hi all,

NethServer Version: 7.6-1810

I installed Let’s Encrypt certificate to a LOCAL NethServer according to this great howto: https://wiki.nethserver.org/doku.php?id=userguide:let_s_encrypt_for_internal_servers

The registrar for the domain is ionos.fr. I followed the howto and did all the requirements for CLoudflare.

All is wordking well.

I have questions about 2 DNS records at Cloudflare:

  1. As you can see, there is already an A record that points to my static IP.
Why do I need a second one?
    - To make sure, I added a www CNAME, is that OK?

  2. What is that “autodiscover” that points to adsredir.ionos.info and what is it for?
Google gives me some answers but they are related to M$.
    - Why is it greyed out?

  3. Can I delete those 2 records?

All explanations, suggestions and corrections will be appreciated,

Michel-André

Hi @michelandre, I am no DNS guru, but have my share of experience with (public) DNS. As far as I can see there is no need for a 2nd A record for the www. subdomain unless that subdomain is on another (public) IP address. IF you use the www. prefix for your website, a CNAME record is sufficient.
I think the 2nd A record is automatically added by Cloudflare. IMO it is safe to remove it.

And for your 2nd question I found this: https://www.ionos.com/help/domains/glossary-important-terms-and-topics-explained/autodiscover/
