Since there is an announcement from Google to turn off App Password soon

It would be nice if neth can support Oauth for the Authentication for email relay (using Google Workspace account). I can see that Oauth proxy in github GitHub - simonrob/email-oauth2-proxy: An IMAP/POP/SMTP proxy that transparently adds OAuth 2.0 authentication for email clients that don't support this method.. Maybe something similar?

Hi Jefri, thank you for raising the issue.

If I understand correctly, the following NS8 features will stop working in the next few months for those who currently rely on Google SMTP & IMAP services with plain-text basic authentication:

  • Mail Relay Rules
  • Imapsync application
  • Email notifications

I don’t know Microsoft’s plans, but I guess a similar issue will arise for Office365 users. We only mentioned two major providers, but this could affect others as well.

Indeed, but i believe this is not related to plain-text instead “basic authentication” with username/password will be affected. Even using TLS is no go.

I agree that this will impact Office365 as well sooner or later
