Problems Changing FQDN

NethServer Version: 7.9.2009
Module: hostname

This is a fairly new install. I will be using nethserver for file exchange with customers, via the Nextcloud app. Initially I had slapd and sssd installed, enabled, and running, so I removed the few users I had created and then I removed LDAP as the provider, thinking then I would be allowed to change my FQDN. However, in both server manager and cockpit, I get the same error saying Validation failed: Must contain at least two dots, like 'myhost.example.com', when I attempt to use the name rennco.cloud, which is a registered domain. I’m guessing I need to use a subdomain/cname, to look more like server.rennco.cloud, in order for the change to take effect? Is that a safe assumption?

Hi @dalbring

I only use AD as account provider, not LDAP as that rather limits you where file shareing is concerned (Only “public” shares, not per group/user as eg under AD…).

With AD, you actually need to remove the whole Account Provider. Then re-add the accunt provider using a new Name / IP if needed…

I’m not sure it’s the same with LDAP…
But if yur LDAP is empty, it might be worth a try…

My 2 cents
Andy
