Problem with SPAM

NethServer Version: 7
Module: Email

Why if I send mail from admin@domain.ext they will arrive correctly to user, but if I send email with another email address of identical domain, they will arrive in the SPAM?
Thanks.

Regards,
Federico Ballarini

Look in the email headers. I never observed a similar behavior, I have no idea on a possible misconfiguration.

This is the email that arrive correctly.

Questa è un’email di test.

I’ve seen you tried with gmail.
If you open the mail from the spam folder, it writes you in the top

I obtain the same message.
But I don’t understand why… can you help me?

I’ve tested the server settings via mxtoolbox and it seems all right.
Have you tried using another user besides umanet@ and admin@?

Now I try with info@

Also with info@ the mail finish in the SPAM…

Your domain is managed by ovh.com.
I have read of several users who use it having problems with google.

The problem is only with gmail? Try sending emails to other domain and changing content prova, test etc can be marked as spam.

I do not think it’s a server problem

Until you add the new address to your gmail contacts, Gmail will mark as spam those mails.

Right now I’m using citadel, and with http://mxtoolbox.com/ I test my smtp server to see what I need to tweak/fix. I can’t fix all that gmail wants, maybe when I change my smtp server to a new version.
Regards

Don’t know how to solve it, but you might check if some of these helps:

I’ve opened an OVH ticket because my server mail is correctly configured.
I will update you.
Thanks you all.

Don’t forget that mark spamming is a decision made by the recipient.
Who can choose why mark spam some messages and not marking some others.

All things that you can try to do is:

  • do things like SPF, DKIM, DMARC on your server for let other servers trust yours
  • verify you are not into a Blacklist (and eventually ask for a remove)
  • send messages which content is not cosiderable as Spam
  • (not a case for NethServer) do configure your MTA as an oper relay
  • therefore, do not host webapplications that can misuse your MTA

In any case, only recipient server take the decision of what is spam and what is not spam…

But why admin@ works and others don’t work?

You should ask to Google … (therefore, read into headers if there’s something can help you)
is the admin address into your addressbook?

No, the admin@ address is not in my contacts… how can I ask to google?

Now, also admin@ messages arrive in SPAM.
All the email that I send finish in the SPAM. I’ve configured also SPF record… someone can help me?

Now it works. I don’t know why…

In any case, recipient server takes decision of what is spam and what is not[/quote]
Therefore, maybe the “reputation” of your server was updated few days after.
