Possibility for DNSMasq instead of Samba

NethServer Version: NS 8
Module: DNS
Is there a possibility to change the DNS from the Server NS8 to DNSMasq System? In the Documentation is written that how i can use it, but at my NS8 i am not able because of the DNS by Samba.

@hucky

You are aware that you can make DNS entries in Samba-DNS?
Any you like or need?

You can use RSAT Tools in Windoes - or eg the LAM Tool in NS8?
Unfortunately,the LAM tool needs a correct DNS entry to work. RSAT will wotk out of the box on any Windows PC, logged in as domain admin.

If using Samba, why settle for less?
And I need File Sharing, and that uses Samba.

i think the samba dns is much slower, i want to make some entries like i can do at the dnsmasq gui, i think the response and also the forwarding is easier for me to handle. and it was not for saying to change it generally for everyone, it is just for me, if there is a possibility. in the documentation it is said yes, you can do it by dnsmasq. i want to give the dhcp and dns informations to the client with dnsmasq

If you have only a single node, then remove samba. Samba needs it’s own DNS and can’t use DNSmasq “as is”.
You can then install dnsmasq easily, it will work.

DHCP can be done by dnsmasq, but not with samba.
You can have both on a NS8 cluster, but only with more than one node.
If using VM, that’s a non-issue…

I use an external firewall for both (Not NethSecurity!).
