POP3 connector randomly freezing

Hello everyone.
I have a problem with a server where several pop3 connectors are active to deliver mail internally. Everything works without problems, but randomly some connector freezes and to restart it I have to deactivate it and reactivate it.
What could I control?

are there errors in /var/log/messages or /var/log/maillog ?

Maybe it helps to increase the fetch interval?

Which mail provider do you use? Is it about GMail?

POP3 / GetMail stops fetching on any mailbox

Are those mailboxes on gmail? I’m having a similar problem with a customer and he’s got maIlboxes on gmail or is mail management on gmail servers even with a different domain? The problem seems to be gmail (who would have thought?). It can happen that rspamd rejects the email just downloaded with a soft-fail (maybe because it’s busy to so other things). At that point getmail is instructed not to delete the mail and not to mark it as downloaded so that it can be downloaded at the next round. …

I recommend to use NethServer as mail server instead of using pop connector/smarthost if possible. Check out the wiki and the documentation for more details.

Connector hangs when receiving mail

Hi! I’m having trouble getting mail through the connectors. Occasionally, a random connector hangs when receiving mail. When you try to download now, the download indicator is spinning endlessly in the Download output terminal window. Rescues disconnecting / enabling the connector. There are no errors in the logs. Hi Markus and thanks for the welcome.
In the log files I do not notice any particular problem.
I tried to increase the fetch interval to 10 minutes, but I did not solve the problem.
The provider is a local provider (etics.it).

I searched the web regarding etics and getmail…but without success.
Maybe try another protocol (IMAP, POP3) to get the mails?
Here is some documentation about how getmail is implemented.
