hello everyone I wanted to report a problem with a Windows client. and change user password. from the Windows login screen through the procedure proposed by Windows it is possible to change the password with a new one. I made the change but unfortunately the server no longer authenticated the user as the password was incorrect after the change. I looked at the AD server parameters and realized that the strong password policy was set. I deactivated the option and everything started working again. i wonder why windows 10 gave the message password changed but not stored on neth.
Is this computer part of NSDC AD?
yes , sure
Looks like a “sync” problem to me, after the procedure try to gpresult and check if you can reach Neth Samba.
Hi guys,
This problem happened to me today too.
Hi have you tried it on purpose?
Wierd, i used this several times in the past… never had problems. Anyway. Now i need to try this out again!
Two users reported to me today about this issue.
Well then the sync case has nothing to do with it. You need to check as soon as possible, maybe if you can try to disable complex passwords.
Well, I took the test and I had no problems.
Does the issue only occur when the password expires? that’s what happened today with two users
I don’t know, but the problem exists. It should be investigated.
Could you try it with users, where password isn’t expired?
What did you do?
I changed the password using CTRL+ALT+DEL > Change a password and I had no problems. (My password hadn’t expired yet)
But so far only two users have reported this issue when the password has expired.
The password expired, they changed the password and could no longer access the account.
As workaround, could you change their password on the server to a temp one and they can login with it and change it after login?
@dev_team
Is it a bug?
Yes, it works that way
If I have more users reporting this issue, I’ll be posting here
Is someone investigating or rather are there other cases in which the error written above appeared to him? Thanks
I don’t use AD on Nethserver, but could you please have a look, whether the passwords are expired? If it is the same behaviour as the one of @Wellington_Rodrigues we could have a bug. So please do your tests and let us know.
Hello and thank you for replying. The passwords were not expired, it was deliberately on the part of the user to change it.
