I beg o Differ, there are alot of Solutions that mostly began as Opensource, before Big tech came in and implemented similar solutions.
one of the bigger challenges i have discovered is that, a huge number rof corporate enterprises, usually like to shy away from Opensource, Unless just for reasons of being able Audit the source code.
Gitlab, works great, its opensource, and so far thriving.

no single software en earth is not linked to OSS , from BSD days to Linux days (GNU) … etc
Forgive me (arguing with the origin of the idea), but, what is big tech ?
web2.0 ? nginx/apache , who beats that ? IIS ??? lmao
databases: postgres etc, who beats them oracle ? nah
networking: even cisco cant beat linux based routers: HW and SW
there is almost ZERO webserver running IIS with a direct public IP , even behind a FW 
on earth …
Oh, I am so sorry , I forgot: What is Google without OSS, like … Linux ? for let say Android …
