NS8-Matomo Module

Those errors and warnings do not impact functionality. especially the 404 error, to me it means the site is working, will try to improve on it so its provides better reporting

I am not exactly following on this part.

does it mean if you use http://matomo

and https://matomo

the http will not redirect to https if ssl is enabled?

True.

After activating the HTTP to HTTPS toggle switch and saving changes, the toggle switch remains off and the http site/URL is not redirected to https.

i saw some changes on how the core handles this case, let me check if this was implemented in matomo as well, if not work o adding it as well. am sure all other modules have the new changes implemented

I know the same is working on ns8-homarr app.

ah, great, because its a newer app, and has implemented these changes and have not touched matomo. will update tonight…

To the dev team, could we please kindly start having release notes and or Changelog for Developers in NS8 esepcially as from v 8.1.

at the moment we dont have many app developers, but in future there will be.
Equally, we dont have many apps, I get the pinch because i already have multiple apps built, and most of the time, at the moment, i have to go dig in through release tags, and merged PR to understand what was changed thats making something no longer function.

A good example is the IDN-hostname scenario. without digging all the time into commits and issues, i wont know what’s changing where. @alefattorini could you help track on this please.

i know somewhere in the forums it mentioned about implementing release notes for NS8, could we also have similar for devs.

I just installed this on my new NS8 instance. Aside from not being able to complete the setup in Firefox (it worked fine in Chrome), no issues. It reports in its dashboard, though, that a new update is available to 5.1.2, and appears to be able to update automatically. Is it safe to do this, or does the module itself need to be updated?

@danb35 The module itself needs to be updated the current version running is 5.0.3 I will update it test then notify you

Not sure if you can update automatically safely I will test this and also let you know

I did go ahead and run the update through Matomo, figuring it’s a new installation and it’s easy enough to just blow it away if it doesn’t work (before realizing there’s no way to delete an app once you’ve installed it in NS8–which seems like a pretty serious oversight)–it seems to have worked without issues. Don’t know if that will leave me with longer-term problems, but it’s running without complaints on 5.1.2.

Must be possible to remove the app instance from UI (3-dots menu → uninstall, at least it was possible few months back) or command line:

Ah, yes–specifically, pull up the “instances” page of the app in question, then you get the kebab menu. I hadn’t seen it previously because I’d expected to see with app settings and such.

But in this case, since this module doesn’t show up in the software center, it would need to be at the CLI–but good to know there’s a way to do that as well.

AFAIK it should show up when clicking ‘the dots matrix’ in the upper right corner next to the bell of software center.

The module does show up there. But I don’t see a way to get to an “instances” page like this one:

…where I can click on the kebab menu for the instance in question and delete it (or clone it, if I wanted to do that).

I noticed that the repo URL https://forge.genius.ke/ns8/updates/ is not reachable.
The app repo needs to be available to show the apps in the Software Center and to be able to uninstall them from there.

After adding a new repo using the URL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/geniusdynamics/ns8-genforge/repomd/ns8/updates/ it should be possible to uninstall Matomo via Software Center:

The repo URLs are documented in the Wiki: ns8:geniusdynamics_repository [NethServer & NethSecurity]

Interesting, and thanks for the wiki pointer–I probably need to spend some time digging around there. Once I add the repo, I see the app as available, but it doesn’t seem to recognize that it’s already installed–I get an “Install” button for it, not an “instances” button.

Yeah, thanks to @LayLow the wiki got refreshed and provides a list of NS8 apps and much more.

Maybe it’s seen as a different repo. It could help to remove the app from CLI and reinstall it via Software Center.

Sorry for this
I will dig into it i think dns issues

One can use this temporarily

I believe it is back.

Also, force https defaults back to off, after specifically setting it to on. I vaguely remember this was discussed before?
