NS8 and Contabo

Hi all,

I am looking for a solution to run NS8 VPS. I found Contabo, but I am unable to get an answer regarding their service.

Is anyone using it and having problems with them? No matter how much I write to info@contabo.com or support@contabo.com, they do not respond. All they tell me to log in to the Custom Control Panel, but I do not have a registration with them.

If I want to register, it asks for all my existing data, even my bank details, even though I do not want to order anything yet, I am just interested in their services.

Does anyone know what to do in this case?

Thanks for your help

I’ve been using Contabo for several years (running NS8 and other things there), and have been satisfied. Other than that, what are your questions/concerns?

I have billing problems.

Contabo is in Germany, they invoice from there. I am in Hungary and have an EU tax number and I want an invoice that does not include tax, because I have to pay separately to the Hungarian tax authority at home and I do not want to pay double tax to Contabo and the Hungarian tax authority.

When ordering VPS, there is no field to enter the EU tax number and they do not answer how to enter it. They just keep telling me to open a ticket in the Customer Control, Panel, but I do not have access to that…

As far as I know, in the EU, when a company provides a service to a company in another member state, VAT is generally handled through the reverse charge mechanism. I have a VAT number, for example, and Contabo invoices me without VAT. I’m French, of course, but I believe the same rules apply in Hungary too, at least I hope so!

In France, we sometimes have a talent for making things more complicated than they need to be when it comes to implementing EU rules. Hopefully, Hungary does a bit better than we do!

Saying that I am quite satisfied about contabo, recently I took a storage vps with 1TB of ssd for 16€/month

Thank you @stephdl , this is good news. According to this, Contabo can issue tax-free invoices based on EU tax numbers. In the case of a German service provider and a French user.

I am attaching the image of the Contabo VPS order form, where you must enter your tax number.

The tax number should be entered in the VAT Number field. The Hungarian EU tax number looks like this: HU12345678, which means it starts with the country code HU and is followed by 8 digits.

However, the VAT Number field only accepts 8 digits and the HU designation is fixed at the end, any other entry is invalid. However, the tax number must appear in the previous format on the invoice (HU12345678), otherwise the Hungarian tax authority will not accept the invoice as valid.

You can’t argue with the Hungarian tax authorities…

@stephdl What does the French EU tax number look like, is it similar to the Hungarian one? How does the French EU tax number appear on your invoice?

Maybe someone else can give me an example of this?

Thank you very much for your help

@stephdl I managed to register an account with Contabo without an order. So it accepted the EU tax number in the format HU12345678.

I went through the registration process and then logged in, checked my tax number. It was recorded correctly and I hope that if I order the VPS, they will invoice correctly without VAT.

However, I will now send them a question about issuing an invoice without VAT on the Customer Control Panel.

I only hope that the service will be much better than the information before the contract.

Thank you very much for your help.
