New personal module: calrs (self-hosted scheduling) for NS8

Hi all,

I just released a new personal module for NS8: calrs, a self-hosted scheduling tool written in Rust. Think of it as an alternative to hosted booking services (Calendly-type tools), but with your own data on your own server.

How it works:

  • You publish your availability
  • You share a booking link
  • People pick a slot
  • Free/busy comes from your own CalDAV calendars, and confirmed bookings get written back to them

This is a personal module, not an official NethServer module. It lives on my own repository, not under the NethServer org.

Technical notes:

  • Backup/restore through NS8 core (Restic), tested specifically for the “restore on an instance with no existing account” edge case
  • Automated dependency updates via Renovate
  • Test suite (Robot Framework) that captures the UI on every change touching the interface, so a dependency bump doesn’t silently break the module
  • Currently at 1.0.1

To install it, add my module repository as a software source in NS8: https://forge.de-labrusse.fr

Feedback and testing welcome, especially on the CalDAV integration side since setups vary a lot. If something breaks or the docs are unclear, open an issue.

That looks good. very good, in fact. It was easy to install. I’ll be testing the individual features. Many thanks for that @stephdl

I tested against the caldav of sogo an it worked well, i use the official jitsi url to make the rooms

It looks interesting on the manufacturer’s websites. Thanks for the module.

We currently use NextCloud Calendar and Address Book. Would this be a possible replacement, or more of an add-on?
Is it integrated with Active Directory?

I recall some web sso integration, it has been asked by a friend but no need more than to book against a caldav calendar

2FA would be a good idea.
