You’ll find most entries in /var/log/messages.

If your server is slow again you may use top to find out which process kills your server.

I am getting this mesage when trying to shutdown A stop job is running for Mariadb database service I am running in a Virtualbox VM, , takes 5 minutes or so to shutdown.
