I installed NethSecurity Controller and following the setup page set the FQDN and kept the default admin username and password. However when I pressed the save option the password disappeared and there appears to be no way to get what the default password was or is.
1. Can the UI be changed to tell the user that this password is only shown once and when clicked on save it will now longer be shown. I have no idea what the system generated password was and didn’t record it thinking this interface was like others which showed the default password after save
I then had no option but to remove the controller and add a new instance. It is now stuck on 67% on the install and hasn’t moved.
It looks like I will be restarting the entire server tomorrow once everyone is home just in case it crashes and doesn’t start up (it’s happened in the past and I can’t have an entire office of twenty staff having no access to files/Active Directory login.
Is there a way to stop the Nethserver 8 from creating a new instance -2/-3/-4 and totally purge what was done so I can get this installed correctly as it looks like a glitch with a second instance being setup and something being kept from the first instance even after I deleted the old instance.
I have tested this Yesterday. The only things possibile is create a new istance after delete the last, leave all default values, copy the generated admin password, set an fqdn and login. After that in the admin page of the new controller change the admin account password.
However when you link the firewall with the controller does not appear anything to controll It. Maybe it Need a payed subscription?
I can’t answer to that without seeing the relevant logs.
No, it’s not possible because the numeration is used to support multiple instance. The instance name/number is not visible to users when using the controller.
I left it going and the install eventually finished doing the new install after many hours. Not sure what the hold was. It works well.
One question I have is if I have OpenVPN road warrior accounts on the gateway on the same network as the controller, can any remote gateways connect to the controller. On the LAN I can see the local gateway and it connects, but the external gateways don’t (installed at other locations each with road warrior OpenVPN server enabled). I take it reading the documents that the controller uses the default VPN (1194?) port but I can’t port forward this to nethserver NS8 cluster without taking the gateway VPN offline. Am I missing something simple?
