NethServer 8 external storage best practices

NethServer Version: NethServer 8
Module: Nextcloud, minio
I want to deploy NethServer 8 with Nextcloud as VM on a Synology.
Usually I would mount one SMB Share of that Synology als External Storage within the Nextcloud GUI
and another SMB Share via fstab to symlink that to the Nextcloud homes directory.
Since NethServer 8 has that minio module and on the Synology minio can be installed via docker:
Is that the way to go? - or still the traditional symlink?

If you want to be a Beta Tester for using this with your “real” data, sure, go ahead.
I never read about Minio in any NextCloud post, but maybe you’re lucky, it might work.

Be serious, if it worked before, why change it?
Do you have ANY experience with Minio in this specific use case?
Does anyone you know have any?

My 2 cents

THX Andy! I have NO experience with Minio … that’s why I was asking. And I totally agree - “never change a running system” => I will choose the old-fashioned way.

Hardware can and will always die some day and is - per se - replacable…

Concepts, Methods and Know-How, on the other hand, remains with you as long as your memory work. And for the specific environment, these will always work as before.

“system” in the above quoted saying I understand as a part of both. A “disk” may have died and been replaced, but the “system” works as before.
No concepts changed!
