Nethserver 7 as workstation?

NethServer Version: 6.9
Module: mail sogo owncloud backup
Hallo again !
at the moment we use Neth6.9 as a simple workstation in DMZ = orange LAN of iPFire-Firewall.
Now we tried to upgrade to Neth7.x. But there are much confusion, because of Neth7 out of the box don’t support simple workstation mode, I think these is the reason of confusion!
IS THERE A WAY TO CONFIGURE NETHSERVER 7 as SIMPLE WORKSTATION like NETH6 ??

Hi @rowihei,

You can use NS7.x “as SIMPLE WORKSTATION like NETH6”, for your purpose, choosing LDAP as local accounts provider as domain account.

If you need authenticated access to shared folders configure a local ad accounts provider. See

If you already have some kind of accountprovider running in your network (either LDAP or Samba4/AD) you can join your NS7 server to that domain. It will be acting as a normal “member” of your domain and use any account credentials already available on your network.

Thank you for your tip - but I already tried this - sadly not the same structure in sogo-email;

Thank you for your post,
but your idea is a little bit complicated, because nethserver in orange LAN (DMZ) and AD-Server is Windows2012 in green LAN. Firewall is a IPFire with red-green-blue-orange.
We don’t like pinholes from orange to green …
