Migration from NS7 to NS8, Clients rejoin?

NethServer Version: 7.9 will go hopefully to 8
Module: Migration tool and active-directory
I have a question about after the migration and active-directory. After the Migration, i learned after a long fight with NS8 that the name and the domain is how it was in NS7, right? This was at my first Migration Try. So my question is, after migration and shut down the NS7 do i have to leave the domain and rejoin on the new NS8 ?

No, rejoining isn’t needed if the clients are still able to reach the NS8 DC so in your case you could either change the DNS forwarder to the NS8 IP or you change the IP of the NS8 and samba to the IP that the NS7 had before, see also NethServer 7 migration — NS8 documentation

To change the IP of the NS8 you could use nmtui, see also Node network setup — NS8 documentation

Thank you, the nmtui tool i used in a formerliy configuration. i ask myself … on ns7 we did 2 IPs. One for the server and one for the domain controller. which one should be the ip for the ns8 to reach after the migration?

In NS8 it’s just one IP for both, so the NS host IP and samba IP are the same so clients are able to reach the file server.
