This post is a long time coming…sorry for the delay!
I just wanted to take a moment to give a massive shoutout to @Andy_Wismer for his incredible help with my NethServer 7 to NethServer 8 migration. This upgrade was no small task—it was, in my opinion, a long, complicated, and definitely not something I could have handled alone. Thankfully, Andy was there to guide me through every step of the process, and I can honestly say that without him, this migration would not have been completed successfully.
From the start, Andy properly planned the migration, ensuring that DNS and Proxmox were set up correctly. As the process unfolded (and trust me, it took way longer than I expected), he navigated every issue expertly, tackling unexpected challenges with patience, dedication, and a deep understanding of NethServer.
One of the things I really appreciated was how thorough Andy was. He didn’t just get the upgrade running—he made sure that all my data was migrated correctly and that new applications were properly set up on NS8. He worked long hours, making sure nothing was missed, and even followed up after the migration to check in on any lingering issues I might have run into during testing.
And on top of all that, Andy kept things lighthearted, funny, and engaging. Even during some of the most frustrating parts of the upgrade, he managed to keep the conversation interesting, which made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.
If you’re considering upgrading from NS7 to NS8 and you’re not 100% confident in doing it alone, I highly recommend reaching out for help. And if you can, hire Andy—his expertise and support made all the difference for me.
