Mail server unreachable from outside the network

Hello,
I have a problem with my nethserver

I installed the server without any problem, I setup everything and it’s working fine except for the email server.

When I setup my domain and my account it works without any problem, when I setup my mail clients everything works as it should but when I go outside the local network the mail client doesn’t work anymore.

Hi @Mat.78 and welcome to the NethServer community forums
First a few questions:

  • Do you have a fixed external IP address for your network?
  • If you don’t have a fixed IP address, did you use some kind of dynamicDNS service to make sure the DNS records for your domain are automatically updated when your IP address changes?
  • Did you set the MX record for your domain to point to the external IP address of your network?
  • If your mailserver is not directly accessible on that external IP address, did you set the correct port forwarding on the Gateway of your network?

thank you for your reply.

Finally i’ve been able to solve the problem (it was easier than I expect): fail2ban ban my phone IP and I can’t connect to the server anymore.
