Login problem on NS8

As a longtime Clark / ClearOS user, now refugee, I installed NethServer 7 as a VirtualBox VM. That worked fine and I am satisfied with the first results. As the future probably lies in NS8 I wanted to test that as well. I installed another VM with Rocky Linux on VirtualBox, and put NS8 on top of that. However, that went less smoothly than installing NS7.

  1. In terminal I cannot use copy/paste. I am using USB mouse + keyboard and Copy and Paste are both greyed out in the menu. Ctrl + Shift + C/V doesn’t work either.
  2. I can login in the terminal, but not on the webpage. The page opens correctly, but using authorisations identical to the terminal input returns a login error. This way most of NS8 is currently unavailable to me.

Roel, welcome to the community!

Haven’t used virtualbox for quite a while but some extra features were available by installing VirtualBox Guest Additions.
Another option is to enable (and connect through) SSH on Rocky. Or install cockpit (which includes a web terminal) on Rocky.

Many users here will suggest to use another hypervisor (like proxmox) if it is going to production.

They have different credentials. Default ones for cluster-admin are admin / Nethesis,1234

Thank you, Marc, very helpful. I already feel at home here. I was too eager to quickly install NS8 on VBox and missed the VBox Guest part that I normally add. Expecting identical credentials must have been my ClearOS past. BTW I tried admin | Nethserver,1234 which obviously failed. You need to read carefully, even when you’re in a hurry for experiencing quick results. This will work fine and I am looking forward to a new future after ClearOS.
