LemonLDAP-NG App released

We’re pleased to announce that after close collaboration between @stephdl and myself, the application is now considered stable and ready for production use—or at minimum, release candidate evaluation.

To support ongoing development and distribution, I’ve established my own repository, which is now publicly available at:

https://forge.ksatdesign.com.au/ns8/updates/

We welcome testing, feedback, and contributions as we continue refining the release.

dont worry @stephdl the lazyty in tech is real

Nice one Shane, This should make my efforts to Migrate to NS8 alot more easer, I hope.

Just deploy new NS8 Instance, migrate Ldap users, install new LLNG instance, Clone / copy previous configs, Adjust the parameters in all apps using it. then i am on NS8.

repeat the migration for All other Apps while pointing to new NS8 LLNG.

Is it necessary to install a separate LE certificate for each of these FQDNs?

auth.domain.com
manager.domain.com
test1.domain.com
test2.domain.com
lemonldapng.domain.com

I don’t think so as auth and manager are already covered by letsencrypt and the others seem to be config examples.

Now they are on it. They also look better somehow.

But who wants to configure it so that it works properly? My evening school course “How do I use my iPhone properly?” is certainly not enough. :grinning:

Correct they don’t need to be seperate the only seperate certificate is the one for signing (i.e.,SAML) as it is best to have a non changing one as you would have to update the metadata on both lemonldap and saml compatible app every time certificate changes

also these aren’t compulsory as their just place holder. apps to give you an idea of how it works

So Interestingly, tonight, i was working on migrating my NS8(mail+nextcloud) server from NS7 to NS8, with the help of @mrmarkuz. its connected to a remote AD7Server with LLNG. To my surpirse, the NS7 software centre prompted me for an Update for LLNG,

I decided to Update into it, and behold, My LLNG server in NS7 was updated to the Current VErsion OW2 Projects - LemonLDAP::NG 2.21.2 is out! (lemonldap-ng.lemonldap-ng-2-21-2-is-out.WebHome) As per the Releases

This was a suprise to me, and it still works great.

I decided to Dig into the Release Notes, as i always did, and found this

The official Docker image has been improved, to ease customization and volumes management. See Docker Hub and documentation

in v2.21 here

I then Remembered the Amount of Efforts it took to get LLNG into NS8, and i had to check the implementation in NS8. I hope their docker improvements, still Allow Our version to work even better, in the new version when its Updated

So @Shane_Treweek before Updating, please be sure to check what these simplification improvements are, and whether they break things in NS8 when you update the docker container image for LLNG in NS8
