Awesome solution you have here. In Denmark companies are looking for alternatives to Microsoft 365 and this fits perfect. We are expecting to start getting licensed versions op and running sometime next year.
But i have run into a little snack with our proof of concept.
I would like to install our Atera monitoring agent, Acronis backup client and Withsecure antivirus on NS8.
Since NS8 is containerized i was wondering how best to do this?
I tried just to install it in the terminal but that gives allot of errors and before troupleshooting i would just make sure there is not something special i have to do?

NS8 runs applications as rootless Podman containers, so the answer depends on how the third-party software is designed. Some tools integrate well with this architecture, while others expect a more traditional host-based installation and may not behave as expected inside containers.
Monitoring software is usually the least invasive category. In many cases it can be installed directly on the Linux host node alongside NS8 rather than inside application containers. For example, NS8 nodes already run Prometheus node_exporter for system monitoring purposes, and the Software Center also provides a Netdata application for additional monitoring and observability.
Backup and antivirus solutions can be more sensitive to the containerized architecture. They often need access to application data, specific filesystem locations, extended permissions, or low-level system features. With NS8, application data is stored and managed according to the container architecture, so it is important to verify that backup and antivirus products can correctly access and protect the data you expect them to.
My recommendation would be to test Acronis and WithSecure carefully in a proof-of-concept environment and validate backup, restore, scanning, and update workflows before deploying them in production. The expected behavior may differ from a traditional Linux server installation.
