Install Darkstat network traffic analyzer

,

Hello,

can I start and use on the NethServer “Darkstat”, and if so, then how?

I installed Darkstat, the package is available in the repository, it just doesn’t work.
The necessary configs from Darkstat are not created during the installation.

thx & greetings,
Tim

If it’s for NethServer 7, the EPEL package is pretty dated (2014).

What have you tried so far (step by step) and what did not work?

Maybe config file is not in /etc/darkstat but /etc/sysconfig/darkstat. It has also a service that if it’s not enabled by default you can enable if wanted.
Don’t know if you have to manually open the port in the firewall for its web interface.

Haven’t installed it or tried any of the above.

I installed it via yum and manually copied and edited the config files and the service files.
I can start Darkstat manually and get the website, but no traffic is displayed.

I now wanted to install it completely manually according to the following instructions.
On the other hand, I have a little worry to break my Nethserver 7.

> [root@xxxntop2 darkstat-3.0.718]# ./configure
> checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
> checking for gcc... no
> checking for cc... no
> checking for cl.exe... no
> configure: error: in `/root/darkstat-3.0.718':
> configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
> See `config.log' for more details

Ok, Quick & Dirty is not possible, you have to invest more time.

A pity. :frowning:

Thx

I think it’s the same version as in the repo.
There’s a slightly more recent one (darkstat/INSTALL at master · emikulic/darkstat · GitHub), but needs to be compiled from sources (same as above, some pre-requisites dev packages).

I think the copying config / service files was not needed with the rpm…
