The usual foreign openness from a French company: if you don’t speak french, you’re not worth our time. And for a collaborative platform (with a sub-optimal italian translation webpage) this speaks quite loud: domestic (France, probably also Belgium) market is far more interesting than international.
I have zero experience or knowledge about Jamespot platform, however as a collaborative suite a powerful enough email client should be a necessory (I’m expecting that calendar is already a pivot point of the product).
So… why buy a company that’s releasing a publicly available product, instead of adopting it without having the hassle of managing the developers?
I feel the “sovreinity” of the software as a key selling point, but I’m asking myself if simply… Jamespot will drop the support on SoGo and request to former Alinto employees to write an internal and non-opensource version of the groupware.
But now Alinto is not calling shots anymore… I respect your opinion about the developers and the former company, being suspicious on the current one seems not the worst idea for me.
I mean…
Apple did not bought CUPS, right?
Or IBM RedHat?
Oracle for MySQL…
ElasticSearch, Terraform, Redis.
I don’t know why my feeling in the SourceForce is so reminding me about the Closed Side…
