As per the title, the EU is on the verge of voting for complete Chat control. This means that every chat conversation will be monitored by the local/country government. That is a bad thing in my view. The big tech can easily be ‘convinced’ to open up a back door or even front door, but how about the smaller players, and what exactly is chat?
Would Signal be effected by this, or how about distributed systems e.g. Mastodon or forums?
I can see why they want to do this, but this just seams the wrong way to do it.
It feels like it is going against all of the whole privacy rules which the EU has pushed for. Not to mention how it will be impacted by the GDPR rules.
Not really sure how they are going to reconcile those two worlds from a philosophical point of view, and that is before we even look at global implementation
