End Of Nethserver 8

Hello,
only a short question:
How long is NS8 supported ?
I not found an information about “End Of Life…”
I use debian12 as base, because I know it long years and upgrades are mostly no problem.
Thanks

Hello @rowihei, if it were not for centos 7 fiasco, we would probably still be using NS7 or a version of it and would continue enjoying support.

NS8 came into the picture as a result of having a solution for the future that is distro agnostic.

Equally, while NS7 is about to go to EOL, the same time as centos 7, there is provided a migration guide which shows the commitment to the project as a whole.

Now to respond to your question, NS8 is still new and there are alot of features and function on the pipeline for what Nethserver is meant to be that have not even been touched yet. And more keep being suggested by the community and added to the dev cycle.

So, it will be supported for a very very long time as long as it continues to have users.

Many Thanks !
… I’ m afraid to make the step NS7 to NS8, but it MUST …

The architecture of ns8 allows to add nodes.
I think it is possible to transfer master from one node to another, as it is possible to move apps from one node to another.
In the odd circomstance that the underlying OS of your masternode gets EOL, it should be possible to move all to a new node and alsof move the master role.
Am I correct this is possible?

Yes, you are correct. another node could be promoted to leader, see also Cluster management — NS8 documentation.
