Dynamic DNS Access

I am using ddclient to connect to a dynamic DNS and thought that it would be useful for an admin module that allows the choice and configuration of various dynamic DNS providers (DynDNS, No-IP, DuckDNS, FreeDNS etc.)

I’m on this module and i will propose several dyndns providers

Whilst I can easily easily configure ddclient, I thought that it would be good for a dyamic dns module for less adept administrators.

don’t worry, be happy http://community.nethserver.org/t/need-tests-nethserver-ddclient

why is this page no longer visible and available?

I assume because it was an old closed module testing thread. It’s available in the wiki since long time.

ok thank you.
am generally curios as to how this application works.

say i have bought a domain at namecheap called myname.tld
i have installed Nethserver and assigned subdomains to varios softwares on the machine.

i have then installed the Dynamic dns tool. how then to move forward to get the subdomains to work no matter which ip address i take the computer to…

Apologies for this question.

Hi

Very simple:

You assign CNAMEs pointing to the Dynamic-DNS Name.

For a webserver, eg:

www.myname.tld IN CNAME my-dynamic-dns-providername.tld

Note:
For E-Mail you WILL have plenty of issues, as Mail (MX) requires an “A” Record, no CNAME…

My 2 cents
Andy
