Download configuration into file without extension

Step to reproduce:

  • Create a configuration Backup
  • Download it to your computer
    – Optional - Drama section start –
  • Delete your wrongly configured server about storage (better thin than thick…)
  • Create another server and install nethserver
  • Log in to it, try to upload the configuration
  • Cannot find the configuration file
  • Look deeper into your hard drive, file .tar.xz missing
  • Scream
  • Headbanging against brick wall (drywall option illegal)
  • Feeling stupid
  • More scream
  • Consider as useless sysadmin
  • Take the m0r0n cap
    – Drama section pause –
  • Find a strange file without extension
  • Backtrack date and time of the file matching the time of the configuration download
  • add .tar.xz extension
  • upload the file, considered as backup config file from nethserver
    – Drama section start again –
  • Power-doublehanded facepalm with triple flip and large bruise
  • Feeling more stupid
    – Drama section end –

This occured on Windows 10 2004, Firefox 80 as browser

You tripped over the same stone others did, yet the stone remains relentlessly unmovable.

Glass or bottle? If the latter you might find a way to circumvent/ignore the stone (S) but fall into severe side effects.

Bottle it’s a bit too much for today. I’ll save it for the next headache.
Currently i am fan of Ardbeg.
