I think that the fronts between users and developers are hardened here a bit.
Why make a secret of how the system works?
Yes, it is possible to install a system only through the UI.
But in my generation we are not pure users, like young people today. My daughters are 19 years old, and when I ask them how it works, the answer is: No idea, I don’t care, it just works. That is not my approach to a subject.
If Nethserver wants to have a good testing, then it needs IMO testers who understand the system and not only simple users who just try out if the installation is possible via the UI. And good testing is IMO mandatory for a stable product.
When I joined the community in 2016, I first learned how the firewall and templating system works. This was back in NS6 days and I was able to give some valuable hints, because I think I understood it.
If that is no longer desired, then the fun of testing is over.
That was the only way I could contribute, since I am not a developer, but I wanted to give something back.
And please don’t misunderstand me, but sentences like:
If you don’t know where to start, start from system requirements. Among them, I think Systemd is a good choice, because
We use it since NS7
It supervises the system and user sessions
If you feel something is not clear, feel free to ask and open a new forum thread. I cannot give a good explanation of NS8 without a question to start with.
