I use HA on Proxmox in a VM.
What could be an advantage of an NS8 app [NS8 on Proxmox] compared to such a separate server?
No more Add-Ons…
And updating is a PITA.
I’m a Domoticz user and not (yet) Homeassistance
I’ve the Domoticz running on a seperate VM and this work fine. It is availabel as docker image, so maybe easy to integrate with NS8
For me is it not an added value as i like to keep it seperated
But… This is pure mine 2 cents
I thought the same thing, so I seriously questioned what advantages an HA app could have and assumed I was just blind.
I only see a test lab for designing stuff…
My 2 cents

Home Assistant running as a VM, or as a Container will NOT be able to use WOL for the devices it is running on.
You can’t fire up your Hypervisor, if you are running HA as a VM or Container inside.
You can’t fire up your NS8, if you are running HA as an App inside.
I do use this feature a lot, as I choose to optimize my power usings and temperatures during the hot summers and at night
My 2 cents

WOL is a function that I never use. All my servers run permanently.
My Test / Lab servers don’t…
So I don’t see any need to run this in NS8.
Previously, when I had it installed natively, yes - now with Proxmox as a basis - it doesn’t make sense in my eyes.
Would save time and resources and optimize NS8!
- Samba more stable, better, more convenient (WSDD etc.)
