Disk filling up

NethServer Version:
NethServer 7.9.2009

Hardware Dell Inc. Precision WorkStation T3500
CPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3550 @ 3.07GHz x 8
Kernel Release 3.10.0-1160.119.1.el7.x86_64
Operating System NethServer release 7.9.2009 (final)
My system is running as a family server, which gives us mail and nextcloud, and supports a couple of fairly static websites.
It runs a nightly full backup to a USB-attached disk and in the last week, I have noted that the disk utilisation is creeping up, not tremendous amounts, but always upward, despite the fact that we are not loading more onto the system.

Is there a way of identifying what files are either growing or being added? I don’t want to find that my disk space is being used by blackhats…and yes, I have and will continue to change my passowrds

Thanks for any thoughts

Jim

Changing passwords is only the begining, IF someone has their SSH public key added onto your server, even if you change passwords, it wotn help

Equally, if soemone adds a cleint tool like meshcentral into your server, and you have no idea its there, changing passwords, will also still not help you out.

Now to get to your issue,

Do you have configured otuamtic backups on nethserver backup utility, that could explain increased storage usage.
Equally, Logs could also be eating into your storage.

the first step is to figure out, which folders on your system are eating up storage.

running df -h on your server might give you persepctive, then you can drill down
