Dear NethSecurity devs,
first of all, thank you for the amazing work you’re doing: the system is stable, clean, and has that sweet scent of well-groomed /etc/passwd
files!
However, like any curious penguin hungry for packets (network ones, not RPMs), I feel the need for some ninja-level enhancements in our favorite firewall:
Suricata: Sure, Snort does its job… but being able to choose Suricata would be like switching from *less to bat: same function, but with style and color!
SSL Decryption: Understanding what’s going on inside encrypted packets would be pure joy. Right now, I feel like tcpdump without the
-A
flag: I see things, but I have no idea what they mean .
Visual & intuitive logs: It would be amazing to have colorful logs, maybe split by categories, with some nice highlighting for blocked traffic — and while we’re at it, showing which policy landed the final blow.
Also, if I could click from the Policy section and instantly view logs related to that specific rule, I’d feel like journalctl with a timestamp filter — total power at my fingertips!
Hit Counter next to Policies: Knowing how many times a rule has been triggered would be both useful and oddly satisfying. A counter in the style of
iptables -L -v
would make us feel like true sysadmins with dashboards at our command.
In short: a more nerd-friendly and powerful UX, the kind that makes our eyes sparkle like after a smooth sudo apt full-upgrade.
Thanks again for your dedication and consistency — keep it up!
A warm hug full of well-formed packets from a humble user who admires you and dreams in /var/log
.
