Cloud Orchestration using Waldur

Someone somewhere here on the forum mentioned something to do with cloud orchestration.

A while Back i happen to come across a great tool that does that, called Waldur https://waldur.com/

This system can be connected with AWS, google cloud, Digital Ocean, or even an own hosted openstack instance to manage VMS and the likes.

It also has a number of tools on the marketplace.

The Installation instruction is Found here: https://github.com/opennode

First Install Waldur Mastermind: https://github.com/opennode/waldur-mastermind
Then install Homeport: https://github.com/opennode/waldur-homeport

The isntructions above are for use in a Dedicated, prodcution USe instlla.

There is also a Docker installation, if you are just testing, or small use cases.

IF you provide VMS to clients, who also have many staff Memebers, or if you have many staff memebrs who need to spin up VMS and destroy at will. etc. those are all use cases.

Edit: ow and it has Ldap support too

In the NS8 discussion the cloud part in computing and computer services has been mentioned several times. It would free a path towards middle and large implementations.
Waldur looks interesting but as always, is this the only option for cloud management? Or even: what kind of management are we looking for?
Are there any similar open source projects? Where do they overlap what do they have extra/less?
In a quick search I found puppet bolt and ManageIQ
Any other options?

/edit: a longlist of opensource orchestration projects.

Well, as my understanding.

Waldur is easy enough to install and use.

Conencts with Major cloud providers, and has A Marketplace with so many other tools, including dockerize and kuerbenitize

It includes a billing system. and has a payment plugin for paypal.

If you need to start offering VPS as white label immediately from DO and start charging. Waldur got you covered, and will do all the accounting for you.

Most of the others you have posted, are mostly geared towards Docker and Kubernetes.

This is also designed to work with Ldap, Jira and others.
If you need something to control resource usage in a company, while having peace of mind. its a great tools

My opinions. So far.

Try it for yourself and judge

Great. It’s not that I have something against Waldur, IMO it’s good practice to investigate alternatives so we don’t put a lot effort in a feature when there is a more suitable project with overlapping or extra options, or with much easier integration.
Next step will be creating a new topic in the howto section with a step-by-step installation.
It would be nice if others give their saying too about such a feature.
