Clamav how to activate and update db

NethServer release: 7.6.1810 (final)
Kernel release: 3.10.0-957.10.1.el7.x86_64

I just followed the above link to the wiki, and installed clamAV. I saved my settings using the submit button.
clamav
I also tried refresh database; But I get the message database is not up-to-date,
and virus scanning stopped.
How should I update the db, and enable virus scanning?
Any help is appreciated.

Also Once I did this I see the antivirus database updated in nethserver webgui.

To debug you can launch the script in the cron.d/ manually and check the error

Hi, I also had the same problem, or if you press the submit button the database remains out of date to 1970. From the shell with the freshclam command I get the update. Everything from cron works everything and the scan schedule you decide from the gui panel or you can manually edit it.

This is normal. Clamav doesn’t act as an “on access scanner” by default.
But it is supported by clamav.
Please refer to Introduction - ClamAV Documentation

The “Virus scanning: Stopped” message means, that the sceduled scan is done.
Only when a scan is started by the scedule it show that virus scanning is running.

Just launch /sbin/e-smith/nethserver-clamscan and look at the GUI.

@stephdl , @france, @flatspin, Everybody thank you very much for your help.
I did try launching /sbin/e-smith/nethserver-clamscan, and the gui showed virus scanning as running.
I will definitely checkout setting clamscan as an on-access scanner.
