I have looked for a checklist, things to not forget as opening firewall ports, update DNS settings on all machines and such. After reading some posts am I starting to question if the DNS is migrated or not?
My environment is very small and the only features we use are Email, Webmail, Webtop and Local Active Directory with DNS that is part of it in at least NS7.
On NS7 because of the container that provided another IP there was dnsmasq and samba DNS. On NS8 you need to decide if samba or dnsmasq provides the DNS server because both can’t run on one node as they want to use the same port.
While on the topic for DNS, is it possible to change the DNS to another service without breaking any functionality? I’m planning to use Bind9 because I need more functionality than A records can offer.
For migration to NS8, DNSMasq basic setup can be extended with additional configuration files and define also records of other types. Please consider opening a separate topic or continue an existing discussion about DNS on NS8 in general.
